Hello and thanks for looking at my page!

First and foremost I am a mother to three wonderful children who are all in very different stages in their lives. One has struggled with anxiety and another has a diagnosis of ADHD.
I've a been Registered Child a Mental Health Nurse for over 15 years and before then I was a Special Needs Teacher in a Secondary School for 7 years. Fair to say I kind of love working with children!

Second love is animals. They are my therapy!
I've recently started horse riding again, and bought my first horse-Tommy!

I have worked in a variety of settings throughout my career;
Police custody and Courts, Youth Offending Teams, CAMHS specialist teams, Trauma Support Teams. Lately I also set the Under 18 Crisis Team at Frimley Park Hospital.
I have done additional training in CBT *and DBT* interventions and also Animal Assisted Therapy-AAT*.

My style is person centred and we will create a plan together in our first assessment session. I invite young people and families to my cozy cottage in the country side for their sessions, Frankie the Frenchie often lies by my feet during sessions and is a great calming influence.

With my love and respect for animals, and what they can teach us, I am now wanting to focus on using horses as therapy aid. Therefor I have just started a course in Equine Assisted Therapy-EAT* and will be offering this from May onwards with an introductory discount. (to be discussed at our assessment session)
I will invite you to Tommy's amazing yard in Wisborough Green for your session. Tommy can't wait to meet some young people and teach them lots about emotions.

Let me support you!

*Cognitive Behavioural Therapy-(CBT)teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems. It focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and actions. (Mind 2024)
*Dialectical Behaviour Therapy -Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a type of talking therapy. It's based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). But it's specially adapted for people who feel emotions very intensely. The aim of DBT is to help you: Understand and accept your difficult feelings. (Mind 2024)
Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT)- Including animals can help clients open up and feel more at ease. It can also give therapists useful insights into their clients’ feelings and behaviour, seeing how they form relationships or respond to different situations. (BACP 2024)
Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT)-Equine assisted therapy is a holistic, experiential and highly specialised form of therapy that involves working in collaboration with a horse, your therapist and an expert horse handler. The aim of equine therapy is to help you discover more about yourself, develop new ways of thinking and change any negative behaviours. (Priory 2021)
